B&N eReader is new iBookstore’s rival
This Thursday Barnes & Noble revealed its plans concerning development of its e-reading software for the iPad, the application is said to compete even with Apple iBookstore.
The free Barnes & Noble eReader application was released last July, now the company offers us more than 1 million of different e-books. B&N promised to release a new iPad-specific version of the software by the time the tablet comes into the market.
They say that their new B&N eReader is created specifically for the iPad and it will give the clients access to more than a million of eBooks, magazines and newspapers in the Barnes & Noble eBookstore, as well as the existing content in their Barnes & Noble digital library. That means that books already purchased for the Nook will be also available on iPad.
However, since Barnes & Noble eReader can rival Apple’s own iBookstore, it’s unknown whether the Cupertino company would allow new threatening third-party application to be released on the App Store.
