Tariff rate for unsuspecting – $10 per week for calls in your region


Virtual swindlers vie in offering simpletons to receive free iPad from Facebook and Twitter pages. There are lots of notices such as “iPad Researchers Wanted – Get An iPad Early And Keep It!” and “The Mega iPad Giveaway!” on pages of above-mentioned social networks. There are even positive comments from users and the quantity of these comments is more than thousand.

The scenario of this scam is very simple: firstly, you become a fan of the page, then you invite your friends and participate in quasi advertising campaign and finally, in order to receive the promised tablet you have to answer the questions of an online quiz in which your mobile phone number is requested so you can be sent the results.

You will definitely get your prize but unfortunately it will be not Apple tablet. The prize you will get is signing up for a premium rate service, costing you $10 weekly in your region. Swindlers are sure to receive their share of this money for bringing new clients to the cellphone service.

Facebook’s security team has already disabled this page but there are hundreds similar pages created by crooks for such shell games and note that they offer not only iPad. There are plenty of social networks so there is enormous field of action for tricksters. So be careful, as there’s no such thing as a free lunch.
