Are you the kind of person who travels around with a set of golf clubs in your trunk just in case you can grab a quick 9 holes on a business trip or while visiting relatives? If so today is your lucky day. We have found the PERFECT app for any serious golfer.
Where to golf was designed by carpediemventures, and its safe to say they love golf! In fact they love golf so much they have created an application for the iDevices that will literally have you find a golf course, book a tee time, setup a lunch and direct you to the course in less than 5 minutes.
Upon starting the app you can either enter the name of a course, the city, or the zip code and you will be presented with a list of courses sorted by distance from your current or set default location.
Under the name of the course you will find a snapshot of what the course offers, dinning club, carts, number of holes, available bar, trash cans on course, and the price of a round of golf.
That’s just the beginning really. Once you pick the course your interested in you will be taken to another screen where you are told the course rating, course par, yardage of the course, and even the slope levels.
Along the bottom are buttons that allow you to call the course, or find out more details, show the location on google maps, or read written reviews about the course.
Under the details tab you can find the pricing of weekend and weekday rates, along with twilight rates and any discounts currently offered.
You can determine the course type, see if they allow reservations and what times these are allowed, hours of operation, type of restaurant and if a snack bar is offered as well as finding out if that all important beverage cart will be making the rounds.
It doesn’t stop there you also can find out if walking or cart ridging along with rates are allowed as well as what training facilities are on the course like putting greens or chipping areas to teaching services and pro shop info.
Are you interested in the type of grass on the course? check. Number of sand bunkers? check, even yes if the sprinkler heads are marked! check.
Honestly there is some insane detail that has gone into the application, and if you know a course not on the list which is unlikely. There is the ability to enter the data yourself or check with the online updater which is constantly amended.
The only thing missing from this app is a graphical layout of each course but that not a fault of the developer as most courses don’t publish this data. However if I could make one suggestion which might make this a little more community based would be the ability to keep your score for each course and possible upload that data to the servers as a leader board so to speak. Imagine competing against other real golfers scores on those days your walking it alone..
So with that said if you call yourself a golfer, and you don’t get this application you clearly should have your head examined. It perfect for anyone traveling or just looking to find some new courses to play in your hometown!
